About three days ago, the
CBC broke a story about CSEC using information from a Canadian airport’s free wifi services to track the devices of users for a few days after they left the
airport. The CBC got this information from a document retrieved by Edward
Snowdon. In response to that revelation, the heads of CSIS and CSEC will be
appearing before the Senate Committee on National Security and Defense to
answer questions about their intelligence gathering activities and the privacy
of Canadians. The live stream of this session will start at 4:00pm and I think
that we will see the surfacing of some of the tensions we discussed in class
